MEET HABIB
A Life of Dedication and Service
I have lived in Elswick for the last 39 years. I have represented Elswick as a Councillor for the past 14 years. I attended the Rutherford School and then Newcastle College and pursued a career in Youth Work working for Newcastle Council and then North Tyneside Council based in Wallsend. After the demise of the Youth Service, I worked for Citizens Advice Bureau, currently working for a Charity supporting people with homelessness issues.
I am very proud to have been a City Councillor. In all these years, I have achieved significant changes to my ward and the city as a whole. I’ve campaigned and managed to save an entire estate from being demolished, built new homes in my ward and other parts of the city, reshaped and modernized Cruddas Park flats, supported the building of Newcastle Eagles, helped save Elswick Pool, and oversaw its transfer to the Friends of Elswick Pool, which is now a thriving pool serving the people of the West End and wider areas.
